Police have launched a murder investigation following an incident in Norwich this morning (3 November).

Officers were called to a property in Layer Close, Norwich, by the East of England Ambulance Service shortly before 4.45am today after paramedics reported that a man at the address was being violent and aggressive.

The ambulance service attended the property because a man reported he was having breathing difficulties.

Officers arrived at the property to find a man aged in his 70s had suffered stab wounds. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man aged in his 20s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and is in police custody.

Police have cordoned off the property and officers will be carrying out initial enquiries to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

Det Chief Insp Kev Barber said: “Detectives will be working to establish the full circumstances of what happened this morning. We can confirm those involved are known to one another and there isn’t any wider risk to the public.

“I understand this news is shocking, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who sadly lost his life. I’d ask that if anyone has information that may be able to help our investigation to please share this with us.”
