Train services between Norwich and London Liverpool Street disrupted
Broken down train near Diss and bridge strike in Cambridgeshire cause delays
Last updated 3rd Feb 2026
Passengers travelling on the Norwich to London Liverpool Street line faced delays this morning after an engineering train broke down near Diss, Norfolk, during overnight works.
The blockage affected routes between Norwich and Liverpool Street, including Norwich to Ipswich, with limited services running from Stowmarket. Greater Anglia, the train operator, said a recovery train moved the broken down train.
Additionally, services between Ipswich and Cambridge were temporarily disrupted earlier in the day, after a lorry struck a bridge near Dullingham in Cambridgeshire and became stuck. Network Rail has since assessed the bridge and declared it safe for trains to pass, though residual delays remain on some routes. Services between Ipswich and Cambridge may divert through Ely.
Greater Anglia advised commuters to plan their journeys in advance.
