Norwich cyclist dies after being hit by car as driver charged with attempted murder

A cyclist in his 50s has tragically died in hospital following serious injuries sustained in a collision involving a white Mercedes CLA 180 Sport car.

The incident, reported as a deliberate act, occurred on Chartwell Road in Norwich on Friday, 8th May, just after 5pm.

David Morgan, 40, of George Winter Court, has been charged with attempted murder and driving under the influence of alcohol.

He appeared at Norwich Magistrates' Court on 11th May, where he was remanded in custody to appear at Norwich Crown Court on 8th June 2026.

Police are set to consult with the Crown Prosecution Service regarding the charge.

Authorities are appealing for anyone with dashcam footage or information about the manner of driving of the white Mercedes before the collision to assist the Major Investigation Team.
