Norwich Castle reopening date confirmed
The building work is complete and they are currently preparing the spaces to welcome visitors
Norwich Castle will officially reopen to the public on Thursday 7 August, after a five-year renovation.
The castle team has confirmed that all the building work is complete and they are currently preparing the spaces to welcome visitors.
This includes installing all the furniture, textiles and interactive elements. These will bring the spaces alive, turning the clock back 900 years to when the keep was first completed as a Norman royal palace.
Specialist curators will be installing over 900 medieval objects in the brand-new Gallery of Medieval Life.
They are currently previewing the new spaces prior to opening, to ensure every element is ready for the public.
Royal Palace Reborn has spent years transforming the interior of the Keep by reinstating the floors and room layout of the medieval period.
The first phase of this project was completed last summer with the opening of the new entrance.
The light-filled atrium also includes a new shop, restaurant and education room.
The National Lottery Heritage Fund has been supporting the renovation project.
