Air traffic control staff at Norwich Airport are to strike in a dispute over pay and conditions.
Members of the Prospect union will walk out on August 28, after starting a campaign of industrial action short of a strike on Monday, including working to contract and withdrawing goodwill.
David Avery, Prospect national officer, said: “It is extremely disappointing that we have still not received an acceptable offer from Norwich Airport, which has left us with little choice but to push ahead with this industrial action.
“Our members in air traffic control are not making unreasonable demands, they are simply asking for pay levels and terms and conditions that are normal for their colleagues across the country.
“We hope that the employer can quickly return to the bargaining table with an improved offer that will enable this dispute to be resolved without the need for strike action.”
Airport response
Bosses at Norwich Airport have responded:
“It is disappointing that Prospect has chosen to announce further industrial action while negotiations to resolve the dispute are ongoing.
“We remain firmly committed to resolving this dispute through constructive dialogue and will continue to engage with Prospect with the aim of reaching agreement.”
Officials say that the current to anyone due to fly on Friday 28th is to check-in as normal and keep up-to-date with information about flights from your airline directly.
