A local MP tells us he's pushing hard to get the Norwich Western Link road project put back on the table.

It's as the plans- worth nearly £275 million- are being revised, after being pulled due to environment worries.

"This adds a lot of time when getting to North Norfolk, now that can be life and death"

Jerome Mayhew represents Broadland and Fakenham in Parliament:

He has this message for those opposed to this:

"You're not listening to what residents, in my neck of the woods are crying out for. Whilst we obviously want to make the best of what we've already got.

"There's no way you can turn a radial route around Norwich, which is missing that bit, you can't fix it without building that bit.

"Something as basic as a ambulance response times getting to the Norwich and Norfolk, at the moment they have to go through the city and via the southern bypass.

"This adds a lot of time when getting to North Norfolk, now that can be life and death.

"The A47 is one of the key routes for the county. So if you want to connect our businesses and people and families together, and the majority of people still do travel by car.

"Therefore having a smooth access for freight and all the rest of us can only be a good thing.

What has Norfolk County Council had to say?

County Hall says it's consulting the public on what they'd like to see next from this project. Read more here.
