Norfolk MP says he'll be focussing on issues facing young people in 2026
The pledge has been made by Liberal Democrat Steff Aquarone who's been representing North Norfolk since 2024
One of the county's MPs says he's focussed on addressing issues around transport and skills, this year.
It comes from North Norfolk's Steff Aquarone who tells us he's focused on listening to young people's worries.
"We need to find where our young people are at"
He says told us about the next step from here:
"I expect that later in the year I'll have some sort of conference or similar where I will set out what I've heard and what we need to do next from there.
"Some of that will be down to me to raise in Parliament, so some of it will require people of greater power to hear and take in.
"We need to find where our young people are at, so that we can take the conversation to them and really understand what it's like for them and not make any assumptions.
"For young people there's quite a few reasons why they might be feeling particularly disenfranchised.
"For example, the last years of economic stress have really limited opportunities for them.
"Many young people are demonised by people who don't believe in mental ill health, far too often.
"The flip side of that is they might not be motivated to join the workforce or society at large, if you feel there's nothing in it for you.
"So I think there's a lot of work to be done and that all starts with conversation".
