The head of a charity in Norfolk supporting those with hearing issues says their new hub, opening tomorrow, will provide more accessible support to a growing number of those needing help.
This can can be found on Downham Market's High Street and provides services including ear wax removal and the servicing of NHS hearing aids, including getting batteries replaced.
It will also offer clinics for specialist areas, including tinnitus and balance issues. Private hearing tests will also be available along with supplying private hearing aids.
The new hub is almost opposite the No8 The Old Bookshop, in the town’s High Street,
"Really important that we encourage people to do the best and right thing for their hearing"
Anna Pugh is manager at the 'West Norfolk Deaf Association':
She told us how issues related to our ears can affect our lives:
"We start to lose our ability to hear well from around 47 years old and that's an ability to understand speech in noisy situation and that's an important time in our lives, for a range of reason".
"When people have issues with their hearing they stop communicating and forget to do it, properly. They forget to listen and hear, and so it's really important that we encourage people to do the best and right thing for their hearing".
"Life is difficult enough and there's enough stuff going on. So we need to make things like making sure you've got your hearing aids sorted, making sure you can hear well, as easy as possible.
"So that we don't come into issues of stigma or where people are putting off issues with their hearing".
