Norfolk councillor facing assault and knife charges to appear in court
Justin Rundle set for hearing after missing previous appearance
Justin Rundle, a 49-year-old independent councillor from Great Yarmouth Borough Council, is facing charges including assault, possession of a bladed article, and resisting arrest.
He is scheduled to appear at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday after failing to attend a previous hearing at Great Yarmouth Magistrates’ Court last Wednesday.
Rundle, who represents the Ormesby ward, was arrested following a warrant issued when he did not appear in court.
He surrendered to police subsequently.
The charges relate to an incident in Caister last month.
Rundle has served as a borough councillor since 2023, with his most recent council meeting attendance on 21st May.
A spokesman for Great Yarmouth Borough Council acknowledged the charges but stated, “Given legal proceedings are ongoing it would not be appropriate for the council to comment further at this time.”
