Norfolk bathrobe company named in newly released Epstein files
Luxury robes worth £2,000 were shipped to Epstein’s Manhattan home in 2018.
A Norfolk-based bathrobe company has been mentioned in the latest release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein by the US Department of Justice.
The documents, part of the so-called Epstein files, include an invoice from July 2018 showing a purchase by Epstein’s girlfriend, Karyna Shuliak, of 10 luxury bathrobes from The Bathrobe Company, which was then located in Blo’ Norton, near Diss.
The bathrobes, costing between £200 and £265 each, totaled £1,960 and were shipped to Epstein’s Manhattan residence, the Herbert N. Straus House.
The Bathrobe Company, now based in Cley, is a family-run business that has often shipped its products overseas.
Owner Colin Lloyd said he remembered large orders from New York around the same time:
“They stuck in my mind as they were unusually large orders. Initially, I thought maybe it was a corporate order and wondered if it was a fraudulent transaction."
“We do often send bathrobes to the US. They are, after all, the best in the world,” Lloyd said.
The bathrobe purchase predates investigations into Epstein's activities that resulted in his Manhattan home being raided by authorities in July 2019.
Epstein was found dead in his federal jail cell later that year while awaiting trial on charges of sex trafficking. His death was ruled a suicide.
Another Norfolk connection emerges in the Epstein files, with new information showing that Prince Andrew coordinated plans for Epstein’s private jet to land at RAF Marham in December 2000.
Epstein and his confidante, Ghislaine Maxwell, stayed with Prince Andrew at Sandringham following their arrival on the Gulfstream jet.
