Man jailed for ten years for assault in Norwich
A man has been jailed for ten years after attacking a man and leaving him unconscious before also assaulting a woman in Norwich.
30 year-old Ryan Webb, and of HMP Norwich, appeared before Norwich Crown Court today (Friday 1 May 2026) having pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent, grievous bodily harm without intent and perverting the course of justice.
In a Victim Personal Statement, read aloud in court, the victim’s sister detailed how the assault has impacted his life. She said: “The assault robbed him not only of his health, but of precious moments that can never be replaced.
"He did not recognise his own daughter as she sat by his hospital bed. He missed her wedding day — one of the most important days of her life. A moment every father hopes to share, and one he can never get back.”
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Georgia Livock said: “This was an appalling series of violent and sustained assaults that left one victim unconscious and fighting for his life, and another traumatised and injured. "Webb’s actions were not only extremely violent, but calculated and self‑serving.
“Throughout the investigation he repeatedly lied to officers, paramedics and medical staff in an attempt to conceal what he had done, including fabricating a road traffic collision and falsely claiming the injuries were the result of a medical episode. At no point did he take responsibility or seek help for his victims.”
