A man has been charged with murder following a woman's death from a neck wound in Norfolk.

Norfolk Police were called to Catherine Gardens, Thorpe St. Andrew, shortly before 11:45pm on Saturday evening (January 17), responding to reports of a woman injured in the street.

However, the woman, in her 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination conducted earlier this week by the Home Office found the cause of death was blood loss from a neck wound.

The woman has not been formally identified, Norfolk Police said.

A man in his 60s was arrested on suspicion of murder in Dereham Road early on Sunday morning.

He was taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre, where he has remained after detectives were granted more time for questioning.

Police gave a statement on Tuesday evening, saying that Raymond Lee Williams, 61, of Dereham Road, had been charged with murder and was due to appear at Norwich Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

Officers are still appealing for dashcam footage from Yarmouth Road, Thorpe St Andrew, between 11pm and 11.45pm on Saturday evening.
