Those planning on taking part in a festive dip in Norfolk are being urged to enter the water slowly and look out for others.

This appeal comes from the RNLI, with organised charity swims planned for Sea Palling, today.

"Really important that they get dressed immediately"

Liam Fayle Parr is the charity's water safety lead for Norfolk:

"Being seen is so important here. Using something like a neon coloured float and a bright swim hat and way of calling for help is essential.

"Such as a phone in a water proof pouch for example. It just means you've got those back-ups if things do go wrong.

"The moment that somebody comes out of the water they may not feel like they are that cold, but their body still will be cooling.

"So it's really important that they get dressed immediately and a hot drink is a really good idea to warm up as well.

"I'd also really advise staying with people, that you've gone on a dip with, for a short time after coming out. Just to make sure that everyone's okay before leaving".
