Lack of IT specialists will hamper plans for digital exams- Norfolk rep

This comes as exam board AQA is pushing for more GCSEs and A-levels subjects to be tested on screens

A man representing teachers here warns a shortage of IT teachers will hamper efforts to rollout digital exams.

It as assessment creator- AQA- says doing this will allow more GCSEs and A-levels to be tested, this way.

Regulator, Ofqual, says on-screen assessments could be introduced by 2030. It opened a public consultation on this late last year.

"There is an element of basic literacy...which might be put under threat"

Tim Wilkes works for the National Education Union in Norfolk:

"For this to take place and be effective and fair, there needs to be really significant funding increases- to ensure there's the right technology at all schools and the right training's in place.

"There is an element of basic literacy, both in terms of writing, spelling, language use and communication which might be put under threat if we are solely focussing on computers and IT when it comes to how we communicate and articulate ourselves growing up.
