Event aims to strengthen ties between local community and emergency services
King's Lynn hosts festival celebrating community and frontline services
King's Lynn is welcoming a special event today ( Saturday 22nd August) designed to foster connections between the local community and frontline services.
The Frontline Festival, held at The Walks, is a community-driven event showcasing the skills and dedication of emergency services personnel from across the region.
Running from 10am to 5pm, the festival offers attendees a chance to engage with a range of activities, live demonstrations, and stalls hosted by over 40 organisations including Coastguard, RNLI, RAF Marham, and many more.
Rebecca Taylor, Crew Manager and Fire Safety Inspector for Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service, explained the festival's purpose:
"The idea of the festival ultimately was born out of just celebrating the work that we do, showcasing some of the skills, life skills, rescue skills, and kind of teaching that and educating the public about what we do."
Visitors can participate in a day filled with activities such as police dog demos, firefighter fitness challenges, fire service demonstrations, fancy dress, live music, and plenty of stalls offering food and more.
Rebecca Taylor emphasised the educational aspect of the event, encouraging attendees to learn life-saving skills like CPR amidst a day of fun.
Organisers say that the festival is about more than just entertainment; it's a chance for the public and emergency services to connect in a relaxed environment, building stronger community ties:
"I think it's really important that people know how we all work together as well."
Rebecca also said how important the event is, to bring different services together and connect outside of a breaking situation:
"I think it's a really fun opportunity to give back to the community, but I think it's really important for the services as well.. A really good networking event for all of us when we're not dealing with some emergency situation, we can actually get together and talk."
