Six e-bikes that had been illegally modified were seized in King's Lynn during a targeted operation over the weekend.

Norfolk Police say these bikes, altered from pedal-assist to throttle-powered, pose a significant danger as they are not designed to manage the increased speeds.

The operation took place across North Lynn, Fairstead, Gaywood, and Reffley over the course of four hours where local officers focused on areas where these bikes are commonly ridden.

According to authorities, irresponsible use of such modified bikes -- effectively converting them into motorbikes -- raises safety concerns both for riders and the public.

The operation not only saw the confiscation of six altered bikes but also an e-scooter was seized during the sweep.
