A 42-year-old man from Great Yarmouth has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for the rape of a woman he took to his home.

Paul Glascott, of Anson Road, was convicted of rape following a trial in February 2026 and sentenced at Norwich Crown Court on 3rd July 2026.

The incident occurred on 29th May 2022 when the woman reported waking up in an unknown location with a man attempting to have sex with her.

She contacted police from her friend's house and later underwent forensic examinations, which confirmed full intercourse she did not recall.

Police investigations led to Glascott's arrest at his residence on 31st May 2022, with CCTV footage revealing he entered a taxi on Marine Parade, leaving the door open.

Shortly thereafter, the victim is seen entering the taxi.

The victim's statement expressed the profound impact of the incident: “This has affected me in so many ways, it has affected my mental health, my relationships and has impacted my job."

Detective Constable Sophie Brown thanked the victim for her bravery throughout the investigation and legal proceedings.

She described Glascott as a "dangerous opportunist," commending the victim's resilience and expressing hope that the sentence brings justice and reassurance.

Victims of sexual offences are encouraged to contact police, either in emergencies on 999 or through non-emergency contacts via 101 or online at the Norfolk Constabulary website.
