Man convicted of seriously injuring three children in crash in Great Yarmouth
Three children and two drivers were hurt on the A146 Loddon bypass
A 41-year-old man from Great Yarmouth has been convicted of dangerous driving after a collision on the A146 Loddon bypass injured three children and two other drivers.
Tancredo Bankhardt, of Saxon Road, veered his Vauxhall Astra across the carriageway and collided with two vehicles on 29th September 2025 at around 8.40pm.
Bankhardt was found guilty today at Norwich Crown Court of three counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and one count of dangerous driving, following a 12-day trial.
He had denied 11 charges, including three counts of attempted murder relating to the children, who were passengers in his car and not secured with seatbelts or child seats during the crash.
Both police and concerned individuals alerted authorities prior to the incident due to worrying messages and social media posts from Bankhardt.
Despite these efforts, the crash occurred shortly before 8.40pm, leading to Bankhardt's arrest at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder.
Prosecutors argued that Bankhardt intended harm to himself and the children, disregarding the safety of others on the road.
Although acquitted of attempted murder, he was convicted of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Detective Constable Sean Woolward commented, "Multiple lives were put at risk - not only those of the defendant and his three young passengers but also the two other drivers caught up in this incident. It was sheer chance that no-one was killed."
Bankhardt will be sentenced at Norwich Crown Court on 14th May 2026.
