A home care provider supporting 96 people across Norfolk and Suffolk has been rated outstanding following its first inspection by the Care Quality Commission.

Bluebird Care East Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft, which is based in Great Yarmouth and run by Loved Ones Home Care Ltd, provides visiting care and live-in care to people of all ages in their own homes.

The inspection, which finished in August, was carried out as part of the CQC's routine monitoring of services.

The watchdog rated the service outstanding for how caring and well-led it is, according to the CQC.

Safe, effective and responsive were each rated good, the CQC said.

Hazel Roberts, the CQC's deputy director of adult social care in the East of England, said the people spoken to during the inspection were "overwhelmingly complimentary" about the service.

"When we inspected Bluebird Care East Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft, we found an exceptional service where staff and leaders worked in full partnership with people to ensure they led meaningful lives.

"The people we spoke to were overwhelmingly complimentary about the service.

"Staff were extremely caring and passionate about giving people a positive experience.

"We were told how staff went over and above to do additional little things that had a big impact on people's lives and enjoyment, such as going to get milk for a person who had no family nearby once they finished their shift."

Staff were described as well trained and competent, allowing them to provide safe care and support.

Leaders gave people opportunities to share their views and opinions about the service, with everyone having fair and equal access to opportunities, interventions and advice, inspectors found.

The report also noted that leaders had introduced staff recognition schemes, alongside opportunities for staff to develop their skills and knowledge to support career progression.
