George Russell is focused on reversing his recent misfortunes as he competes in the Barcelona Grand Prix, seeking to revive his championship campaign.

Hailing from King's Lynn, Russell has faced challenges in the previous two rounds, with an engine failure in Montreal and a penalty mishap in Monaco causing him to fall outside the points.

His setbacks have left him trailing by 68 points behind championship leader Kimi Antonelli, who has secured five consecutive victories.

Russell, celebrating his 100th race for Mercedes, remains optimistic despite his Monaco disappointment, which affected his mindset.

Reflecting on earlier race weekends, Russell shared, “If there was no luck either way, I would have been on the podium in Japan... I think I would have won in Canada and probably finished third in Monaco. I’ve definitely not given up on the championship.”

Encouraged by a message from Susie Wolff, Russell is determined to regain his competitive edge.

Lando Norris, who overcame similar struggles last season, commented on Russell’s situation, noting that confidence challenges may be affecting his peer.

Norris stated, “There’s a lot of things to think about as soon as someone says that you are a title contender. If he says he is going around with no pressure now, then we will see if that helps him or not.”

Antonelli's impressive performance has drawn unlikely comparisons to Ayrton Senna, but the young Italian dismissed them, stating, “I don’t feel like I should be compared to someone who has made the history of the sport.”

Russell's focus now is to find his groove and challenge for the championship title despite the obstacles he's faced.
