Family of Norwich man pay tribute after death of 'much-loved' father
Terry McFadyen's family say he will remain 'forever in our hearts'
The family of a Norwich man who died following an incident last year have paid tribute to a "much-loved" father who will remain "forever in our hearts".
Terry McFadyen, 71, died following an incident at Layer Close in Norwich on 3rd November 2025.
His family have spoken out following the conclusion of court proceedings.
"Terry was a loving father, devoted partner, cherished family member and loyal friend who touched the lives of so many. His loss has left a void that can never be filled, and he is missed every single day by those who knew and loved him," they said.
23-year-old Moses Fernandes, formerly of Layer Close, Norwich, previously pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Mr McFadyen by reason of diminished responsibility.
Fernandes appeared at Norwich Crown Court on Thursday 24th September, where he was made subject to a Section 37 Hospital Order with a Section 41 restriction under the Mental Health Act 1983.
In their tribute, the family said: "The legal proceedings and the acceptance of a plea to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility have been extremely difficult for our family to come to terms with. While we recognise the evidence presented regarding the severe mental health issues suffered by the offender at the time of the incident, this does not lessen the profound pain of losing Terry in such tragic circumstances.
"Throughout this process, we have had to confront the devastating reality of what happened to a man who meant so much to so many people. No court outcome can change the fact that Terry's life was taken from us in such horrific circumstances, nor can it ease the grief that his family and friends continue to live with.
"We would like Terry to be remembered not for the circumstances of his death, but for the life he lived. He was a caring, hardworking and much-loved man whose legacy lives on through the many happy memories he created with those around him. Terry will never be forgotten and will remain forever in our hearts."
