Driver pleads guilty after serious collision in Wacton
22-year-old faces consequences of multiple driving offences
A 22-year-old man Ipswich, has pleaded guilty to multiple driving offences following a collision that left a teenage boy seriously injured in Wacton.
The incident took place on the A140 Ipswich Road on Thursday 30th July at around 6pm, involving a turquoise Renault HGV and a blue SYM Orbit moped.
Emergency services, including an ambulance and air ambulance, attended the scene, resulting in a temporary road closure.
The moped rider was airlifted to Addenbrookes Hospital where he remains in serious condition.
Ben Laflin of Aldham was arrested in Seaham, Durham the day after the collision for failing to stop at the scene and questioned at King’s Lynn Police Investigation Centre.
He has admitted to charges of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, dangerous driving, and failing to stop after a road accident.
Laflin is set to appear at Norwich Crown Court on 1st September 2026 and remains in custody pending the hearing.
