Cyclist in a critical condition following a collision in Norwich
Police appeal for dashcam footage and eyewitness accounts
A cyclist is in critical condition following a serious collision in Norwich where a car reportedly deliberately struck him.
Emergency services rushed to the scene on Chartwell Road shortly after 5pm on Friday, 8th May 2026.
The cyclist, a man in his 50s, suffered serious head injuries when a white Mercedes allegedly intentionally collided with him.
He was transported to hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
The driver of the Mercedes, a man in his 40s, fled the scene but was later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, dangerous driving, drink driving, and drug driving.
He was apprehended on Bignold Road, Norwich, before 7pm and remains in police custody.
Police are urgently seeking any dashcam footage from motorists who were driving along Chartwell Road and Mousehold Lane between 5pm and 5.10pm.
They are also interested in any eyewitness testimonies related to the driving behaviour of the white Mercedes prior to the collision.
