Car park fees are set to rise at some of Norfolk’s busiest beaches and market towns after just one person wrote to object to the plans.

North Norfolk District Council has voted to approve the higher fares, which will come in at sites across the district including in places such as Cromer, Sheringham and Mundesley.

It means drivers can expect to pay up to 30p more at resort car parks, with the new charges to be introduced in April.

Season tickets are also being increased in line with inflation and coaches will pay more to stay.

The decision follows a 21-day consultation, giving members of the public the chance to oppose or support the plans.

But this failed to attract much of a response and out of 103,257 people, just one person wrote to object, who called for the charges to be increased incrementally over multiple years.

It will cost £20,000 to implement the changes, which include installing new signs and advertising.

Councillors approved the new rates at a full council meeting this week.
