Police treating huge fire in derelict building in Norwich as arson

Fire crews worked into the early hours of the morning getting it under control.

Norfolk Police have confirmed an arson investigation is underway following a fire which broke out on Dibden Road on Monday night.

Crews from Sprowston, Carrow, Earlham, Hethersett, Wroxham, Long Stratton, Acle, Reepham, Dereham, Great Yarmouth, Loddon, Wymondham, Fakenham, North Walsham, Attleborough, Stalham and Watton were called to Dibden Road at 5:40pm last night (20th January).

Also in attendance were a control unit, water carrier and Aerial Ladder Platforms from Great Yarmouth and Earlham.

Fire extinguished in derelict building in Norwich

Norfolk Fire and Rescue tells us its teams worked into the early hours to get the fire under control and extinguished - while Norwich City Council says it's found no significant levels of asbestos in the air.

Some locals are still being told to keep windows and doors shut.
