Anglian Water has reassured its customers that despite the soaring demand for water amid record-high temperatures this June, a hosepipe ban is not currently planned.

The latest figures from Anglian Water indicate that the company has distributed 1600 million litres of water due to heightened demand, marking a substantial increase over their typical 1200 million litres per day.

Director of Water Services, Ian Rule, said that although a hosepipe ban is not imminent, conserving water remains critical in helping maintain supply.

“ - We have no plans to introduce a hosepipe ban this year," Rule said, emphasising the importance of avoiding unnecessary usage like hosepipes during the heatwave.

Anglian Water asked customers to adopt strategies such as reusing paddling pool water, shortening showers, and delaying non-essential activities like car washing.

The East of England, having previously experienced dry conditions, remains under close observation, and Rule expressed gratitude to customers who continue to support efforts to reduce water consumption.

Anglian Water says it remains vigilant in monitoring resources and ensuring efficient management to avoid further restrictions during periods of extreme weather.
