East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) has announced a huge milestone—100,000 people have now been trained in lifesaving CPR by the charity.

This achievement comes on Restart a Heart Day and is a major step in EAAA’s ongoing mission to empower local communities in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk and help improve survival rates from cardiac arrests.

The Air Ambulance team provides 24/7 advanced critical care by air and road for the region’s most seriously ill and injured people. More than a quarter of their emergency callouts every year are to cardiac arrests, where immediate CPR and the use of a defibrillator before emergency crews arrive can mean the difference between life and death.

Since launching its Community CPR Training Programme in 2018, EAAA has helped 100,000 people learn not just how to carry out CPR, but also how to use a defibrillator with confidence. This means more people are ready to take action if someone suffers a cardiac arrest nearby, giving them the best chance of survival.

As more people across the region learn these skills, the East Anglian Air Ambulance hopes to see even more lives saved in the years ahead.
