A woman has been charged with murder in connection with the death of a four-year-old girl following a house fire in Rusholme, Greater Manchester.

Carrin Wibier, aged 45, of Gateshead Close, has also been charged with arson with intent to endanger life.

She has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Manchester Magistrates Court on Wednesday 7 January 2026.

The charges relate to an incident at a property on Gateshead Close on Sunday 2 March 2025. Emergency services were called to reports of a fire at the address, where 4-year-old Lesma-Rose Wibier was pulled from the blaze and taken to hospital. She later died the same day.

Following the child’s death, Lesma-Rose’s family paid tribute to her, describing her as the “star of the family”.

In a statement, her relatives said: “She always had a smile on her face and could put the same on others.

“She was such a smart and intelligent girl in her own unique ways, and she will be deeply missed by anyone who was blessed to meet her.”
