Woman, 80, dies after being knocked down by cyclist in Stalybridge

An investigation has been launched after an 80-year-old woman died following a collision with a cyclist in Tameside.

The incident occurred around midday on Sunday, 4 May, at the junction of Mottram Road and Matley Lane in Stalybridge.

Police say a male cyclist taking part in an event was overtaking another rider when he struck the pedestrian.

The woman sustained serious injuries and died in hospital on Wednesday, 7 May. The cyclist was treated for minor injuries and remained at the scene.

No arrests have been made.

Greater Manchester Police are urging anyone with information or footage to come forward—particularly fellow cyclists in the event, or those with dashcam, CCTV, mobile, or doorbell recordings from the area.
