Winsford police appeal for help after pedestrian seriously injured in hit-and-run

Officers seek witnesses and video footage following High Street collision

A 62-year-old pedestrian has been left with life-changing leg injuries following a hit-and-run collision in Winsford in the early hours of 1st January.

The serious crash occurred at approximately 12.07am on High Street, at the junction of Collingham Way. The vehicle involved failed to stop at the scene, and the victim was taken to North Staffordshire Hospital for treatment.

Police seek witnesses and evidence

Detectives from the Serious Collisions Investigations Unit are requesting help from anyone who may have witnessed the collision, has relevant information, or captured footage on a dash cam or CCTV.

Detective Sergeant Russ Sime, leading the investigation, said:

"This was a very serious incident that has left the victim with life-changing injuries, so in order to help us establish the circumstances that led to this collision occurring, we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed it to please come forward."

Following initial investigations, officers found debris at the scene which appears to be from a car wing mirror.

"I would also like to appeal to anyone who may have seen a vehicle with a missing wing mirror at around the time of the incident to also get in touch," DS Sime added.
