Support campaign launched in Greater Manchester for grieving partners this Christmas
Drop-in sessions are planned to help people feeling isolated during the holidays
A campaign has been launched in Greater Manchester to help people grieving the loss of a partner during the festive season.
The 'WidowedAtChristmas' initiative has been started by Nicky Wake from Bury and Heather Smith, who have both experienced the heartbreak of losing their husbands.
Their group, The Widowed Collective, is organising a series of drop-in sessions throughout December aimed at reducing the sense of isolation that many people feel during Christmas.
The campaign hopes to offer emotional support and connection for those navigating bereavement over the holidays.
Nicky said: "The very heart of everything at Christmas is family, and from the moment you lose your life partner, every Christmas will change, forever.
"It's not an uplifting happy moment, and it's just a memory of everything we've lost.
"And I think that's why we wanted to shine a spotlight on the reality of widowhood this Christmas, and to let people know you don't have to do this alone, and we're here to listen and to help."
