An urgent warning has been issued after a huge fire broke out at an industrial unit in Bolton.

Eight fire crews rushed to Adelaide Street just before 21:50BST on Thursday (22 May).

People have been asked to keep doors and windows closed while firefighters continue their work.

St Helen's Road was closed in both directions while crews worked alongside partners to contain the large fire which produced a lot of smoke.

Crews are continuing to make good progress on the fire on Friday (May 23) morning with firefighters remaining on scene to dampen down the area.

Dan Perager, GMFRS Duty Group Manager, said: "Our crews worked hard to contain this incident to the building affected and to bring the fire under control.

"Firefighters have worked throughout the night and we continue to make very good progress to fully extinguish the fire."
