Two teenagers have been rushed to hospital following a double stabbing in Longsight.
Police were called to Dickenson Road at around 21:30GMT on Monday night (10 November).
It is understood one of the teenagers has since been taken into custody.
Another person has also been detained on suspicion of assault.
A section of Dickenson Road close to the market remains closed off this morning.
Long queues are building on nearby roads, including Stockport Road and St. John's Road.
Detective Inspector Geoffrey Machent from GMP's Longsight CID, said: “We attended reports of a stabbing on Dickenson Road and swiftly arrested one man while two others were taken to hospital.
"One of those men has now been released from hospital and taken into police custody, while the other remains in hospital a stable condition.
“Carrying a knife can lead to serious and even fatal consequences. We are committed to removing weapons from our streets and protecting lives.
“You may notice an increase of officers in the area as they continue to conduct enquiries and offer community reassurance. Please feel free to let them know if you have any concerns.”
