Pair accused of attempted murder after reported chase in Marian Square

Two teenagers have been charged with attempted murder after a man in his 30s suffered a head injury during a reported attack in Netherton.

Merseyside Police said the man was threatened and chased by two youths before sustaining a slash wound to his head in Marian Square on Tuesday 26th May.

Two teenagers charged

Police said a group of young males became involved in a dispute with the man at around 7pm.

It was reported that two of the males threatened him and chased him on foot while threatening him with a knife.

The victim suffered a slash wound to his head and required medical treatment.

A 17-year-old from Netherton and a 16-year-old from Maghull were arrested on Wednesday 27th May.

They have now been charged with attempted murder, Section 18 wounding with intent, and possession of a knife or sharp pointed article in a public place.

The 17-year-old has also been charged with possession of a Class B controlled drug, ketamine.

The pair cannot be named because of their ages.

Court appearance

Both teenagers are due to appear at Liverpool Magistrates' Court Today.

Police said their investigation is ongoing.
