Two more arrests made after Urmston shooting leaves man critically injured
Three men are now in custody following the incident in Urmston
Two men have been arrested following a shooting on Higher Road, Urmston last Friday, bringing the total number of suspects in custody to three.
The arrests, of men aged 21 and 28, follow the apprehension of an 18-year-old man on Monday. All three have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in custody for questioning.
The victim, a 21-year-old man, is in hospital where he remains in a stable but critical condition.
Detective Chief Inspector Justin Bryant said:
“These additional arrests mark meaningful progress and send a clear message that violence will not be tolerated.
We understand the fear and uncertainty caused by this incident, but I want to reassure our communities that we believe this to be an isolated incident which poses no further risk to the public.
Our officers are investigating every line of enquiry to establish the full circumstances and arrest those responsible, and we will continue to take decisive action to protect our neighbourhoods.
Along with the arrests made today, we will have an increased number of patrols in the area to enhance safety and visibility. We encourage anyone with concerns or queries to approach our officers, who will be more than happy to support.
I would like to thank the public for their continued patience as we investigate this matter and we urge anyone with information to please come forward and report.”
