Family remembers NHS Healthcare Assistant Maxine Hickman who died last week
The family of Maxine Hickman, a 59-year-old NHS Healthcare Assistant, has shared heartfelt tributes following her tragic death after a road traffic accident in Wythenshawe last week.
Maxine was involved in a collision on Southmoor Road at approximately 9.55am on Friday, 5th June 2026.
The incident occurred when she experienced a suspected medical episode, resulting in her vehicle, a white Ford Ka, colliding with another car in the opposite lane. Maxine was subsequently taken to hospital and passed away on Monday, 8th June.
In a statement, her family described her as a "kind, thoughtful and selfless person" who dedicated much of her life to caring for others. Maxine was known for her humour, warmth, and compassion, qualities she extended to family, friends, colleagues, and those she cared for professionally.
Her commitment to helping others continued through organ donation after her passing, reflecting her lifelong altruism. The family expressed gratitude to emergency services, hospital staff, and those who have offered support during this difficult time.
