Trafford Council reveals budget plans
Bosses need to make savings of around ÂŁ40m over the next three years.
Trafford Council has revealed its budget and council tax is going up by about 60 pounds per year.
Council Leader Sean Anstee has told us Trafford still charges residents less than anywhere else in the North West.
The council are looking to invest more than ÂŁ14m on roads and highways over the next three years.
They're lowering car parking charges and investing more than ÂŁ5m in the regeneration of Altrincham and Stretford.
Here's the full statement on the budget proposals:
"Each year the Council has to set a budget which shows how we will generate income and fund our services. Since 2010, we have faced tough financial challenges, which meant that we had to save ÂŁ161.47m. We have done this through changing the way we provide our services and developing new and innovative investment strategies.
"Over the next three years we need to save a further ÂŁ40.67m, and to help us to do this we have focused on economic growth and investment strategies. These plans are now paying off and more people than ever want to live and do business in our borough.
"The strategies that we have put in place over the last couple of years mean that this year we are proposing that there will be no cuts to council services, and in addition to this we will be investing in services that we know are important to you, for example, social care and highways.
"In addition to this we are helping households in Trafford to save money on everyday activities by abolishing library fines and reducing car parking fees which will also help to further support our town centres."
