Dozens of tractors to gather in Adlington to protest against plans for 20,000 new homes
It's part of the Government's New Towns scheme
Dozens of tractors are gathering in Adlington to protest against plans for 20,000 homes to be built in the area.
Farmers argue that the development would use land amounting to the size of approximately 1,500 football fields.
The convoy will begin today at 1pm, setting off from the Adlington relief road roundabout.
The new town development forms part of the government’s initiative to build new towns for the future, aiming to address housing shortages.
Participants say they want the protest to highlight the significant loss of farmland and potential impact on the agricultural industry if the proposed development goes ahead.
Hits and Greatest Hits Radio have approached the Government for a statement.
