Three arrested after bracelet stolen from 98-year-old woman in Manchester
Police appeal for information and work to recover a priceless family heirloom
Police have arrested three women after a family heirloom bracelet was stolen from a 98-year-old woman in Manchester earlier this month.
The theft happened at around 3.30pm on Saturday 10th January while the victim was seated on the seat area of her walking frame on Dale Street.
Two women approached her and initiated a conversation. During this distraction, the bracelet – which had been passed down from the victim’s mother – was taken.
Police believe the theft may be connected to another reported incident later that day on Oxford Street, where two women attempted to remove rings from another individual while a third acted as a lookout.
Following investigations, officers arrested three women aged 35, 33, and 27 on suspicion of theft. They are currently in custody for questioning.
Efforts are underway to locate and recover the missing bracelet, and police have released an image of it to assist their appeal.
Anyone who recognises the bracelet, has been offered it, or may have unknowingly purchased it is asked to contact police via 101 or through their Live Chat at gmp.police.uk, quoting crime reference number CRI/06A2/0000963/26.
