Three people have been arrested after police recovered cash, suspected heroin, and weapons following a vehicle pursuit through Stockport.

It happened on Friday 14th November when officers from Greater Manchester Police's Operation Venture team were patrolling near Brinnington and spotted a suspicious vehicle.

A short chase ended in the town centre on George Street West in Offerton, where the car was stopped and its three occupants were searched.

Two men, aged 40 and 43, and a 31-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of possession of a knife and possession with intent to supply class A drugs. The 43-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of going equipped.

All three remain in custody.

£10,000 in cash and sharp tools seized

Officers carried out further searches at addresses linked to the suspects and found approximately £10,000 in cash, a large amount of suspected heroin, razor blades, sharp tools, and drug paraphernalia.

Detective Superintendent Richard Thompson, who leads the team, said: “The instincts and proactivity of our officers has resulted in illicit substances and potentially lethal weapons being removed from the streets of Stockport.

“Our team move across the force with the purpose of disrupting criminal networks, and deterring crimes which lead to serious violence. I have no doubt that yesterday’s stop will have prevented further crime from taking place.

“We would encourage anyone with information about people carrying weapons, or dealing drugs, in communities to get in touch with us on 101, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. This information supports where we do our deployments and enables us to act on concerns.”
