Police believe the suspects are aged between 13 and 15
Police are appealing for information after a woman was sexually assaulted on a tram in Manchester.
The incident took place at around 3:30pm on Wednesday 29th May, when a woman boarded a Victoria-bound tram at Central Park. She was then surrounded by a group of teenage boys, and one of them sexually assaulted her.
Officers are now looking to identify the suspect, believed to be aged between 13 and 15 years old.
Greater Manchester Police described the incident as “deeply concerning” and have assured the public that crimes of this nature are taken “incredibly seriously”. The force is working closely with transport partners to ensure the safety of passengers across the network.
Danny Vaughan, Chief Network Officer at Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), said:
“Everyone who uses public transport is entitled to feel safe, and be safe, at all times, particularly women and girls for who we know safety is a key issue when choosing whether to travel by bus or tram.
“This was a concerning incident and having provided CCTV from the tram to the police, we will continue to do whatever we can to support the ongoing investigation. I would encourage anyone with information to come forward.”
