Second arrest in Levenshulme murder investigation
Police say a 23-year-old man is in custody after the death of Zherko Rasul Osman
A second man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a man who was stabbed in Levenshulme.
Greater Manchester Police said officers were called to reports of a man with serious stab wounds on Chapel Street at around 7:06pm on Saturday 15th August 2026.
The man died at the scene despite the efforts of emergency services, police said.
He has been named by his family as 24-year-old Zherko Rasul Osman.
His family are being supported by specialist officers, according to Greater Manchester Police.
Second man arrested
A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on the evening of Tuesday 18th August 2026 and is in custody for questioning, police said.
A 27-year-old man who was previously arrested on suspicion of murder remains on bail pending further enquiries.
Greater Manchester Police said it is believed to have been an isolated incident, with no wider threat to the public.
Police appeal for information
Detective Inspector Alex Wilkinson, from the force's Major Incident Team, said: "A second man has been arrested this evening and is currently in custody.
"This arrest marks a significant step in our investigation and shows our continued commitment to securing justice for the victim and his family.
"Our officers are working at pace to establish the full circumstances as officers on scene are conducting investigations.
