Pedestrian dies after being knocked down by a road sweeper in Salford

A pedestrian has died after being hit by a road sweeper in Salford.
The crash happened on Cleggs Lane at around 8.16am on Tuesday 28th July 2026.
The pedestrian, a 64-year-old man, suffered serious, life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
He died from his injuries later the same day in hospital.
The driver of the road sweeper, a 39-year-old man, was not injured.
Greater Manchester Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is asking anyone with information to come forward.
This includes anyone who witnessed the crash, or who has CCTV, dashcam, doorbell or mobile phone footage from the area.
