A road in Bolton has been closed after a building suffered major damage in a crash.

The junction of St Helens Road and Morris Green Lane has been shut, according to GMP Traffic.

GMP Traffic said the closure was put in place after a building sustained significant damage following a road traffic collision.

No further details about the crash have been released.

Images from the scene show part of the building's roof structure has collapsed, with rubble and debris spread across the pavement and road below.

An emergency worker can be seen at the site assessing the damage.

Anyone who usually travels through the junction is being urged to plan an alternative route.

The GMP Traffic X account said drivers should leave extra time for their journey while the closure remains in place.
