RAF jets escort Qatar Airways flight descending to Manchester Airport
RAF leaders say jets were scrambled after the flight was "causing concern to civil authorities."
RAF Typhoon jets have been scrambled to escort a Qatar Airways flight in UK airspace which was "causing concern to civil authorities."
The flight QR23 from Doha was descending ahead of its landing at Manchester Airport on Friday evening when jets from RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire were launched as part of a "Quick Reaction Alert."
Details of the concerns have not been released.
Manchester Airport's flight arrivals board says it landed at 19:46 - whilst RAF leaders say the incident was resolved.
An RAF spokesperson said: “We can confirm that an RAF Quick Reaction Alert was launched for a Qatar Airways flight which was causing concern to civil authorities.
“The incident was resolved and the airliner landed safely at Manchester Airport.”
