Pay deal accepted avoiding strikes at Manchester Airport
Airport workers back new three-year pay offer
There are no longer concerns over strikes at Manchester Airport after workers agreed to a new three-year pay deal negotiated by Unite the Union.
Unite has confirmed that there was never a formal strike ballot, as discussions with the airport resulted in improved pay negotiations benefiting workers including security staff and traffic management personnel.
A spokesperson for Manchester Airport said, “We are pleased that our proposed three-year pay offer, which was fully recommended by the recognised trade unions, has had a positive outcome at a ballot.
“This is fantastic news, and we're delighted to be moving forward with an agreement that brings certainty for our colleagues.”
The agreement follows a consultative ballot where members initially rejected the airport’s pay offer. The new deal covers a range of roles at the airport, including bus drivers, security staff, meet and greet workers and traffic marshals, as well as firefighters, airfield operations staff, engineers and car park employees.
Workers employed by Manchester Airports Group (MAG) in various capacities are also part of the deal.
