Collaborative efforts lead to arrests, drug seizures, and community engagement

Launched over a year ago, Operation Vulcan has led to significant results, including more than 250 arrests, recovery of drugs worth thousands of pounds, seizure of over 200 vehicles, and removal of dangerous weapons from the streets.
Recent achievements

They have successfully shut down three cannabis farms, recovering over 200 plants, and seized 30 vehicles for offences like dangerous driving and lack of insurance.
Officers have conducted 95 searches during patrols, showcasing their proactive approach to maintaining law and order in the area.
Community involvement
The effectiveness of Operation Vulcan extends beyond enforcement as officers continue to engage deeply with the local community. This includes drop-ins with residents, interactions with schools and businesses, and close communication with the council—all efforts aimed at building strong local ties.
Sergeant Gabriella Evans from GMP’s Oldham district remarked on the ongoing success of the partnership:
“The Vulcan partnership is continuing to flourish within the Derker area… Our local neighbourhood team has conducted so much good work this year and is something that we will continue to do so in the weeks and months to come.”
The initiative is currently entering the 'hold' phase of the Clear, Hold, Build strategy, ensuring sustainability and further development of the efforts so far. Sergeant Evans encourages community members to reach out for assistance, reinforcing the team's commitment to help and improve public safety.
Operation Vulcan exemplifies dedicated teamwork involving officers, council members, charity groups, volunteers, and more, all focused on overcoming criminality and fostering a safer environment in Derker.
