Police investigate suspected collision after man found dead in Oldham

Public appeal for information following discovery of deceased 58-year-old

Authorities in Oldham are investigating a suspected collision after a man, identified as 58-year-old Christopher Neary, was found deceased in a vehicle on Monday evening.

Emergency services were notified around 7.30pm about a car believed to have left the carriageway near the junction of Lees New Road and Abbey Hills Road.

Christopher Neary, who had been reported missing last week by his family, was discovered in the vehicle. His family has requested privacy while they come to terms with their loss.

Appeal for information

Greater Manchester Police are working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident, including the timing and causes of the collision.

Detective Inspector Clare Harrison from GMP's Oldham district urged the public to come forward with any information. She stated: “Firstly, I want to extend my condolences to Christopher’s family and friends – this is a tragic outcome and I want to ensure that we provide them with the answers they deserve.”

She emphasized the importance of even small details in aiding the investigation, saying: “If anyone has any information they can share, I would urge them to do so. Even the smallest amount of detail could greatly benefit our investigation.”

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or has CCTV or dashcam footage from the area taken between 6.50pm on Thursday 28th May and the evening of 1st June to contact them.
