Murder investigation launched after death of woman in Bolton
Man arrested after emergency services called in early hours of Tuesday morning
Police have launched a murder investigation after a woman died following a reported assault in Bolton in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Officers were called to Yewdale Avenue at around 3.15am on Tuesday 4th August after reports of an assault. When they arrived, they found a woman, believed to be in her 40s, unresponsive with significant injuries.
Despite the efforts of emergency services, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody for questioning.
Investigation continues
A police scene remains in place on Yewdale Avenue while enquiries continue, with officers maintaining an increased presence in the area.
Greater Manchester Police said: "Officers responded to reports of an assault on Yewdale Avenue, Bolton at around 3:15am this morning (04/08/26).
"Upon attendance, they located a woman, aged in her 40s, unresponsive with significant injuries. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
"One man, aged 36, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.
"A scene will remain in place, and we will have an increased police presence in the area as enquiries continue."
The woman's identity has not yet been formally confirmed.
It is understood her family have been informed.
