Murder investigation launched after death in Bolton
Police have arrested a man on suspicion of murder after the death of a woman

A murder investigation is underway after a woman was found dead at a flat in Bolton.
Police were called to the property on Kempston Gardens shortly after 10am on 19th January 2026 in response to a concern for welfare.
Officers found a woman unresponsive inside the property and began CPR, but paramedics pronounced her dead shortly after.
A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.
Detective Inspector Louise Kelly of the Major Incident Team said:
“Our priority at this time is identifying the female and informing her family as soon as we are able to. Specialist officers will be available to support them throughout this investigation.
A murder investigation has been launched and whilst we currently have a man in custody, there is a police cordon in place, and we are conducting enquiries to establish the circumstances which have led to this incident.
We understand that an incident of this nature may cause concern within the community however we believe there is no wider risk to the public.”
